I am my mother's daughter

FIRST STANZA

I am my mother’s daughter

I wonder if she is proud of me

I hear her words of encouragement

I see the day she sits in the front row at my wedding

I want her to see me graduate from medical school

I am my mother’s daughter

SECOND STANZA

I pretend that I don’t listen to what she says

I feel her push for me to do great things

I touch the goals of my future

I worry that she may have too many bills to pay

I cry when I see her cry

I am my mother’s daughter

THIRD STANZA

I understand that one day she won’t be here

I say that I won’t be where I am today without her

I dream that one day I will make her happy by becoming a doctor

I try to realize how hard she works for my family

I hope she sees all of her hard work has paid off

I am my mother’s daughter
