I Am No Rose
I am no rose. I am datura,
Most mysterious of all flora.
I hide from sunlight, my beauty true.
I await the moonlight when the day is through.
From dawn to dusk, I’m lifeless and dead,
But from dusk to dawn, I’m filled with beauty and dread.
For from root to stem and from leaf to flower,
I’m filled with potent poisonous power.
And though I live my life in darkness and shade,
I remain confident and unafraid.
Most mysterious of all flora,
I am no rose. I am datura!
