"I Am Not Alone"
“Children are meant:
To be seen
Not heard”
Essays are meant:
To follow the prompt
Answer the question
Only answer:
Wrong or right
In the world of speech
There are no dreams
No individuality
No acceptance
No freedom
No peace
Everyone is a beast
Rejected by their coat
And disregarded for their pumping heart
With their emotionally thriving mind
In the world of paper and marks
There is no judgment
George Orwell has recognition
In the journal he has permission
To finally feel he’s not alone
In the world that’s not his home
Escape from the screeches and shrieks
Away from the gate that creaks
To a place where there is peace
“Perfect” strides off the page
Is it really that easy?
Cage left open
Feathers are free
Stretch them wide
Let the wind breathe
Take me places
I’ve never seen
Dreams will thrive
Now that I can speak
I am me
A girl with dreams
No longer will their thoughts
Control me
Dictionaries consist of pages and words
None make sense if they are not heard
Emotions connect the world today
Besides our cultures, tears will play
No matter what:
I may feel
I may fear
I may do
There will be that one voice
Reaching out such as I am
No longer stranded in fear
“I am not alone.”
