I am not Free
His skin was fair an alien
his ship stole me from my land
Cooool..breezes of ocean in my eye
as i sweat beneath his hand
AFRICA my..(cup hands) Motherland
left to be enslaved
She did not deserve to be separated from her child
I am not FREE
as i witness my hands turn black..er.er
than my ancestors
As i run faster (pant) (sigh)
than my dog
I know that GOD must see my struggle
for the devil did this to me…
King James put me in his town
and used his bible to control me
a book that i DID NOT know about
for in my home I spoke of Mystic beings…
the WHITE man no nothing knew nothing about
yet i sing hymns from this white man's book
as i go about the plantation
and it gives me strength to make it
it is God’s invitation
that it ONE thing that CAN not break me
for the white man did not know
that the ONE thing he used to kill me would save my soul….
I birth my son and he grows
He breathes his son and then on...grows on..goes on
and we come to COLLEGIATE place where the negro
is no longer on the run
But yet I am not free
for though my brown skin
is now semi accepted..
they brush(brash) their whips through my mind
and now their slavery is of a different kind
for they have chained me by my nerves
and captured my lobes
the slavery is here
and not from across the globe
I am not Free
I am...HIS (look up)
King James Version
A version that too many have discovered
But not many cherish
As my hearbeat meets the concrete
And legacies parish
Those meant to protect now illegally serve
Punishments of proportions no one has ever heard
As sons become scars
That bleed with no mercy
My eyes shift from the streets to the clergy
Prayers for discrimation
With false incrimination
As they read this story masses testing my patience
It's as if Martin Luther King never had a dream
And he woke up to brown faces begging him to go to sleep

Remember
What once was now is as Jim Crowe is ressurected
And segregation runs under the radar not easily detected
As we cry for our brothers who can't cry no more
And we dust off our King James
To remember what we live for
From a ship to slave
From a slave to free
The tables have turned
I AM not free
And as melanin pops
And drops to the floor
If our people ain't free who we standing here for
As armies are formed
Saying our lives matter
Building up verbal barricades
To prepare for disaster
I wonder if our ancestors still have broken backs
From the freedom that was whipped off them lash by lash
Though
As I comb the cotton of my hair
I am not free
The day will come
When one days will be some days
And that day will come
When concretes and heartbeats
No longer intermix
And this war that we are fighting will be fixed
As we use our minds
And unite our visions
Educate congregate
Divide our division
We are not free
But we are living
And as God breathed breathe into Adam to create new life
We breath into our atmosphere to make things right
King James Version
