I Am Not A Label

In order to not waste time, we all claim

It’s easiest to label, it’s easiest to name

Sometimes it is kind

Sometimes it sucks

And sometimes it gets stuck in my mind.

But words cannot express the person I am

Moments in time is what makes me me

I cannot be defined as a label

Nor can I be forced into a sentence

I am simply am not able.

I cannot be defined as someone put into a box

But I can be defined in late night talks

I am defined as that hilarious pun

I am that goal I scored back in the summer

I am a late night baking session at one

And I am that rained out concert that was a bummer.

The person I am you will never know

Unless you present in my life

And if you are

Then you will see

The person that is me.
