I Am Not A Number

Junior year and so much pressure for a test,

"You HAVE to do good!" "You have to be the best!"

But for what? It's just a stupid sheet of paper

That's supposed to tell where I will be later.

36, 2400, what do these numbers mean?

Apparently, they tell colleges whether I'm a good human being.

Whether I go party and have fun,

Or if I stay home and get my work done.

But I'm more than just a number, I am a person with goals.

How can I achieve if your mind is always closed?

A sheet of paper and a number doesn't define me

I always try to be the best I can be!

But you can't see that I'm a smart girl with a bright mind.

All you see is a number, because this test makes you blind!

Pressure...

I am really feeling this poem. I remember feeling this exact way in high school. Ironic how I still feel this way today, as a sophomore in college. Keep up the good work. Don't fall for the pressure.
