I Am Not A Number.

1700, 95, 87, 75, and 15
Are all just numbers, values.
Hollow and meaningless
Unless attached to words

1700, my SAT score.
After months of studying
And 4 hours of testing hell.

95, the grade I have in Government
Because it is too easy
And requires no thought

87, the grade I have in physics.
The grade I am proud of.
The one I worked for

75, the grade I have in English
Because I can’t interpret poems.
Correctly that is

And 15, my class rank
Out of my graduating class
Of 682 seniors

Yet, not one of these numbers
Represents me,
Or who I am.
Not. One.

In school, we are all
A number,
A grade,
A score,
A rank

But I am not a number
I am a human
And no number
Can define my
Success.
