I Am Not a Number

I am not a number.

I am not another data point in a meaningless statistic.

I am a human, flesh and blood;

With a spirit like a lion

And a hopeless wanderer’s heart.

I am a daughter, a sister, a lover, and a friend.

I don’t know where I’m going

But I know where I’ve been.

I strive to climb mountains

And to break free from chains;

I’ll go forth with passion, with love, and with strength.
