I Am Not a Poet

I am not a poet

I don't put words on paper

They just flow out of my mouth

With my wheels on the ground

Spinning under the weight I carry

The words come out of exhales

After inhaling the world

In melody, in cadence

They charge from my pores

Empowered by the hills I climb, the bridges I cross

The muscles forming

In my heart, in my brain, in my legs

The strength remains

But the words depart

Lost in the winds that carry me home

Or away

Any place I may not stay

Gone in a gust

Like the hope in these words

Words I don't put on paper

For I am not a poet
