I am not a Poet

I am not a Poet. I just

Say what’s on my mind. It just

Happens that my mind has a tendency

To rhyme.

When I was in high school, I just

Wanted to be alone. I didn’t doodle

in my note book.  So I just

wrote down my emotions. All of the

hurt and emptiness. My tears flowed not

from my eyes but from my pen. I was

practically dry heaving for want

of a show of emotion to myself.

But no show came; I just

Existed. Drifting in and out of

Consciousness with each

passing night.

I am not a Poet. I just

Write down my thoughts. They just

Happen to have a meter.

 to them.
