I AM NOT A SINGLE STORY
From time to time I’m informed that I appear to be stuck up, “boogie” and appear to have it all.
But do the people know the challenges and obstacles I’ve over come?
Do those who judge me off of false pretenses know my story? Know that I have suffered great losses and had my own struggle? Losing both grandparents back-to-back, witnessing a divorce, watching the strongest woman in my life break down
While my father who I refer to as my whole heart is moving out
Has help mold the person I am today.
In the blink of an eye the life I once believed was so perfect shattered in pieces.
Holidays were no longer the same
Cancer took my grandfather and fluid in the lungs took my grandmother and shortly after that drugs took two brother figures all happening back to back made me understand that tomorrow isn’t always promised
Which is why I am not a SINGLE STORY.
A happy home or were we just playing make believe? I watched the people I love the most call each other out their names and share hateful slurs. If both people that matter the most in my world can express such anger and hate towards one another, how do they think I feel about relationships?
For years I did not allow people into my life because I thought they would love me and then slowly begin to hate me. I believe that’s how one developed the opinion of being stuck-up.
Which is why I am not a SINGLE STORY.
