I Am... Not A Stereotype
I am a fighter; a riser; a "lift you up and make you feel higher."
I am a lover. I am a go beyond and abover.
A singer, a dancer, a cheerleader too.
For the ones I love, there is nothing I wouldn't do.
I'm told I am a beauty, by those who love me dearly.
I'm told I am worthless by those who aren't so near to me.
People talk, just let it roll off my back.
I have something that I know they all lack.
I have compassion.
I am the smiling hallway glance.
I'm the one who welcomes you to the group when nobody else will give you a chance.
I am the homecoming queen, the prom queen too.
The name everybody knows thanks to my bright green track shoes.
STATE CHAMPION - in two seperate sports.
The finale tumbler across the center of the basketball court.
Stereotypes.
All accompanied by my name.
Little do they know, we're not all the same.
I am the hand you can hold, when you're alone and scared.
I am the shoulder to cry on when life seems unfair.
You need help?
Don't hesitate to ask. I'll drop evreything at once, and skip out on class.
I am under cover sadness, anxiety and pain.
I fill other lives with happiness, so they'll never feel this way.
I've been through things nobody should have to endure.
Yet I am the light in the darkness, that everyone searches for.
I am a helper, a care taker, a mother if you will.
I'll help guide you through your climb up life's endless hills.
And when we make it to the top you'll thank me with love, because I was the one who picked you back up when push came to shove.
I ask for nothing in return, but for you to help others too.
Pay it forward, you've walked in their shoes.
I am unique, I am special, I am entirely my own me.
Smart, sweet, and everything in between.
We are so much more than what meets the eye.
Based on this you probably assume I am a scoail butterfly.
This couldn't be further from the truth, for I am also shy as can be.
So try not to judge those cheerleaders, dancers, and homecoming queens.
We're all the same once we take off our social disguise.
I am angry, scared, and feel alone sometimes too
But that's okay! We're all human, it's what we do!
So now that you know the real me underneath my outer view, please do tell me...
Who and what are you?
