I Am Not Your Princess
I am not your princess, wrapped in lace,
I am not a damsel waiting, a delicate face.
I am the fire, the storm, the sky,
The woman who rises, never asks why.
No longer bound by ancient chains,
I carry my truth, I wear my pains.
In every step, I forge my own,
A warrior’s heart, a spirit grown.
I am the daughter of warriors strong,
My ancestors’ voice, an unyielding song.
Their strength runs deep in my veins,
A legacy free from sorrow’s reins.
You tell me to be gentle, soft, and still,
But I am the mountain, I bend, I will.
Not a fragile flower in need of a hand,
But a lioness, fearless, I take my stand.
Your words may judge, your eyes may sneer,
But I am the storm, and I have no fear.
I am the daughter of Guru Nanak’s dream,
Equal in spirit, in power, and esteem.
I don’t seek your praise, I seek my own,
A path unshaken, a heart full-grown.
So let me rise, let me soar,
For I am not your princess, but something more.
I am not confined to your narrow views,
I wear my strength in every hue.
I am the future, bold and bright,
Walking in my light.
