I Am Nothing
I am… nothing
Before all of this, I was quiet, calm
With everything I wanted there in my palm
My life had order, my life had stability
I lived through my days in perfect tranquility
All was as it should be, with nary a stress
I had all I wanted, but none in excess
But then I met you
And it all fell apart
I couldn’t keep track
You had captured my heart
And gave no inclination of giving it back
It became all jumbled, got all confused
And I tried to speak to you, but I could tell
You watched me stumble, obviously amused
As you took my peace and tossed it to Hell
Before all of this, I was smartest in class
With a reign that seemed like it would always last
My life had order, my life had promise
I exceeded each challenge, completely flawless
All was as it should be, without any challenge
And there was nothing I could not manage
But then I met you
And it all fell apart
My mind lost all motivation
You had captured my heart
And left my head to damnation
I wanted to talk, truly, I did
But it was like driving through rain
My thoughts started to skid
And I lost control of my brain
Before all of this, I was happy
Or so I thought, sadly
But now I’ve met you
And my fears’ve come true
Because I’ve fallen for you, I’ve lost all control
I can’t keep track with the thoughts that you stole
Each time that we talk is the best of my life
And whenever we part, it hurts like a knife
Now I realize what I fear to be true
That I am nothing… without you
