I Am Only Me

I can't always see

How I'm supposed to be,

How my mind tends to flee.

I can't always say

That I want to stay

With my life this way.

I can't always change

From what makes me strange

To what is in range.

I can't always abstain

From the things that remain

Without tears falling like rain.

I can't always care

For the things that are there,

For I would despair.

I am only me,

Can't you see?

This is how I'm supposed to be.
