not defining who I am

I am rain

gentle and peaceful

but sometimes persistent or sad

I am wind

comforting and sweet

but sometimes powerful or mad

I am sunshine

bright and cheerful

But sometimes I am so burned out

and so tired of sending rays of joy

for everyone to soak up

that I start fires

There is a fire inside of my soul

I am tired of essays

I am tired of numbers

Four point oh's and ratios

aren't going to put out that fire

You can try to extinguish my flames

with rain

But I am the rain
