I am Red

I am Red

I am the brilliant red sunset sinking in the night sky

The edges soft and subtle drifting yet aware

The interior alive and calling out to be noticed, understood

Alive, breath-taking, yet with a shadow darkness

I am the warrior with proof of battle scars

The blood red cuts deep but unyielding, strong

Fighting against the changes

Covering up what is lacking with paler shades of pink

I am the apple at the top of the tree

Fiery red and taunting

Almost hidden and out of reach

Calling to be seen, admired, divine

Waiting for that courageous kindred spirit to climb

I am the red ladybug

Small but not insignificant

Ready to take flight into the world

and soar to new horizons

I am the girl with the strawberry hair

Blending into a sea of brown, black, and yellow

Standing out but so alone

Not just another red-head

I am Red.
