"I am Sam, Sam I am"
You look at my Facebook
And what do you see?
Pictures with filters
To cover the true me.
There are scars and dark circles
Under my eyes,
With freckles all over
That would cover the skies.
You’ll see scraps and bruises
Cover my knees,
With thighs that are so big
You can’t give them a squeeze.
Without the filters
These features are revealed,
Something I clearly
Would rather be sealed.
Aside from the physical
My mental state is grim.
Believing hope is nothing
But a light that is dim.
I may be blunt
But there are secrets inside,
I don’t trust many
Or have many by my side.
Many people don’t like
How blunt I can be,
It seems this is why
Many people hate me.
Behind the façade
And mask I wear,
I’m a good person
Who really does care.
I love all of the people
Who are close to me,
Who understand my humor
And like what they see.
I may not feel accepted
By many around,
But I am glad for all the friends
I have found.
I am starting to truly
Accept who I am,
Without all this stuff
I am truly Sam.
