I Am... Scholarship Slam

I was a boy,

I was a kind one too,

but things change.

Living in a neighborhood like mine.

things aren't like they used to be.

There is no more peace,

there is no more security.

People kill,

People DIE,

people change you,

people changed me.

So everyone asks,

why I am the way I am,

and they don't open their eyes,

to see that this world is ugly,

and it will eat us all,

because we are ignorant.

The way I am,

I am sad,

I am mad,

and I am what I am,

because this world shaped me like this,

in a poor neighborhood,

with no security,

and no peace,

and shootings every night,

and dead people on the streets.

This is an ugly world,

where money is everything,

and so is religion,

and what you do does count,

so I stay quiet,

in my little corner,

and I dont talk,

so I don't get shot.
