I AM ... SCHOLARSHIP SLAM
“I AM”
I am a girl
I am the girl that was afraid of the grass
I am the girl who once thought everyone was innocent
I am the girl that used to dress as a princess every year for Halloween
I am not that little girl anymore
I am now a seventeen year old senior in high school
I am the girl with a bad attitude
I am the girl everyone envies, because I speak up for myself
I am the girl that many overlook
I am the girl who is lazy at times
I am the girl with a hard shell to crack
I am the girl who's weakness is food
I am the girl who would be at home eating pizza on prom night
I am the girl with many truths
I am the girl who gets called unsociable
Some call me mean
Some call me pretty
Some call me ugly
But I do not cry
Because I am the girl who knows herself
Her self-worth and value
I am the girl that learned they were judged before birth
I am the girl who doesn't want to be seen by sex or race
The person who just wants to be herself
Not seen by the clothes and shoes she buy or the people she know
Not seen by the cars she ride or the house she live in
I am the person who just wants to succeed
I am the person that’s tired of seeing her mother struggle and cry
I am the girl who’s not asking for a free ticket
But help along the way
Help me to achieve to the sky
I am me
I am the girl who wants to make change
I am the girl who wants her life to change
Change drastically
I am the girl that wants to be seen on widestream TV's
I am the girl who wants to bring babies to this world
I am the girl who wants to feed the homeless.
I want to save endangered animals
I am the girl who wants boulevards and streets named after her
I am the girl who wants to see joy
I am the girl with dreams that will be reached
I am not the girl who parties all night
I am not the girl that cries all night
I am not your average girl if most can see
I am not into nails and make up
That's just not me
I am!
I am!
I am!
I am the one and only me
An idiosyncratic, chimerical human being
