I am a shadow

I am a shadow.
I wonder what its like to see the light.
 I hear all your secrets,
 I see all your flaws,
 I want to help you,
I am a the hidden shadow.

I pretend not to be there.
I feel the same emotions you do.
 I touch only the darkness,
I worry for all but can’t do anything.
 I cry out of loneliness,
 I am the poor shadow.

I understand I may never get my shot
to prove myself.
 I say nothing yet,
 I dream of everything.
 I try not to be gloomy;
I hope I’m fun and that you’ll like me.
 I am the hopeful shadow,
 I am a shadow.
