I Am .. Slam Scholarship

I am not what this country makes me to be

Which is a poor, bitter black that's always angry.

I am not what reality tv portrays my kind as,

Baldheaded, uneducated, ignorant, with no class.

I am not what the work place thinks what my work ethic is,

Lazy, late, very much insolence.

But I am what they do not expect.

I am a girl who is aware of her rights as an African American.

I am the overacheiver black girl that is as ambitious as the POTUS himself.

I am a weird little girl that can crochet an Afghan

I am obedient and I hate to yell.

But most importantly,

I am a class of 2016 high school senior

That will beat the stereotype

Of what this world thinks I am.
