I am so much skin

I am so much skin

I am freckle, scar, and vein

The bones tap like piano keys

But the song should stay unsung

Shame, reverse time and take back

What you gave to me

I was fine before you came and

Clawed at my skin,

Trying to tear your way into my heart

And break it

I bore this pain.

I bear this pain.

But now I hide it away so well

The way our neighbors closed their shutters

At us trying to peep in.

Sometimes the sun finds a way through

But it's too bright now

So we close our eyes until sleep takes over.
