I Am Soulful

I was born a ginger

A fact I take great pride in,

But others seek to injure

with words to stab my skin.

Hair on fire and a pallor complexion

May be all that they can see,

But I proclaim a fair objection

For all the lies they throw at me.

My hair-color is my mark

That thing I choose to flaunt.

It will forever be stark

Down the road of life I call a jaunt.

Your mien is the first thing they see

Don’t ever let it be anything other than thee.
