I Am Strong

Drastically, my life changes.

I stumble from the aftershock.

Before my eyes, my world has shaken,

And all things around have fallen.

Heaps of rubble it has now become,

And all too quickly and unexpected.

What do I say? Where will I run?

What will be my newfound refuge?

The answer is simple, I now can see.

All around it has always been.

The answer is you and what you provide me.

In you, I find my strength.

My universe I thought I knew lie in pieces at my feet.

I stop to breathe it in.

Yes. I am knocked down,

But I decide the champion is not defeat.

When everything crumbles and to fragments they become,

You will keep me on my feet.

Through life’s dirt and filth,

You will keep me strong

It is a gift that lives inside

From the one that is forever.

The sun will set and I will not cry,

For I know my strength is everlasting.

My strength will be my fortress,

And you will be my refuge

My world used to be a cloudy haze

Now, through my eyes, it is gorgeous

Never will I forget

How giving you are.

And never again will I forget

I am strong.
