I Am Strong

I am more than my depression.

The stigma that accompanies such a mental illness does not define me.

I am strong.

Those nights when my gloom and loneliness come creeping up on my being,

I stay strong.

My depression anxiously greets me when I wake up, and tucks me into bed before I begin to slumber,

I stay strong.

When my fragile world appears to be crumbling and my mental illness gains momentum,

I stay strong.

I am greater than my depression and ready to take arms against this internal war because,

I am strong.
