I am Strong and Independent

I am strong and independent

I wonder about what life is supposed to be

or how it’s supposed to feel

I am shaped by my mother for my father was not there from a young age

Though my life became whole with the man my mother married

I am strong and independent

Life for anyone is never completely easy

but my family has made it the best that it could be

for they loved me

I am a sleepless night over a dumb boy

and a early morning breakfast with my mother

I am my mother

I am the pain of birth

and the beauty of a new life in my mother’s eyes

I am the child that didn’t come with a manual

I am strong and independent

The pains and heartaches of growing up

are not a walk in the park on

a summer’s day break

I have shaped myself into the person I am today

Simply me…

I am strong and independent
