i am a tree

I am a tree I am tall I am short I am a majestic titan from ages past I am a tamed dog, born, raised and killed before my time I am seen by the foolish as a barrier to progress to be destroyed and forgotten I am seen by the wise as a messenger from the past that carries the future I am used to build homes I am used to kill innocents I give all I have not a word I will fight with poison, splinter and thorn to the grave and still beyond I speak with my leaves and you credit the wind I stand silent and you say I am shouting I live to let animal’s breath and to keep the earth still and content I am told that in my absence the earth flees and the animals die I am food I am shelter I am shade I am a messenger I am life I am a tree and when I am gone the whole world will morn )
