I Am... We Are...Unique, one of a kind....
People always say
You are that, you are this
The point that they always miss
Is that I am not just what they define
I am the only one to decide which of these terms I take as mine.
They say my handicap defines me,
but really, is it that hard to find in me
the things that truly make me me?
See, when I think of someone and what defines them
it is there their eyes, their smile, their life, that I seek.
Not, for one moment do I think of their weaknesses
Because in the end, that is where their uniqueness shows.
It is in those moments in time, that they show me
that only I have the power to define, what to leave as theirs and take as mine.
They may to choose not to see the real me,
but in that they recuse themselves from an opportunity to see the beauty
to befriend one who will love and accept them truly.
It is a bleak world for those who don't embrace
that everyone is wonderfully unique.
