I am who I am

“I am who I am” Blaize Owens I am who I am I am a country boy I belong in a place where your closest neighbor is miles away I belong in a place where driving a lifted, muddy pickup truck full of friends is normal Home to me is a large green field, hot sun beating down, with a cool summer breeze rolling through Not in the city that’s full of chaos and pollution Pollution of dirty air, bright lights, loud noises, and hordes of people I am who I am I ride dirt bikes that are fast and loud I enjoy getting down and dirty I put my biggest filter on at school It doesn’t change who I am, only how others view me Country boys don’t fit in well at city schools I do not pretend to be somebody I’m not though I am who I am I will not change who I am just to gain acceptance If you like me, cool If you don’t like me, even better I am not here to try to impress people Inside I know where I am from and belong On the outside I look like a regular student One day I’m in old blue jeans and tan army boots pulling a truck out of the mud The next day I can be freshly shaved, in an ironed Navy uniform commanding my school Looks do not define who a person is You may judge them by their looks but that’s just makes you wrong
