I Am Who I Am, So Deal With It
I am who I am,
so deal with it.
I am female.
So am I supposed to be a wife?
Am I supposed to give into a man's every command?
Am I supposed to keep my mouth shut?
Well, no! I won't do it.
I am who I am,
so deal with it.
I won't give in. My voice will be heard.
I am my own person.
When people refer to me they won't say "Oh, that's his wife"
They'll say, "That's the girl who won't keep her mouth shut"
And why should I keep my mouth shut?
I am who I am,
so deal with it.
If the world's heart is still aching then I won't keep my mouth shut.
Human trafficking. Sexism. Poverty. Racism.
The problems are endless.
So if you expect me to stay quiet because I'm a female,
you better expect me to have a response.
I am who I am,
so deal with it.
