i am a writer

I am a writer because it's what I know

it is my escape, it is my hope

I am a writer because one night it called to me

it told me, "lift up your pen and I will set you free"

and it did, it taught me it's ok to be me

it taught not to be scared

of the world that can seem so cold

I found peace in writing

I found a home

a form of expression i had never known

I found me

someone that I can now be

without fear
