I Am...Growing Up

I am 5, looking at the world with bright, fresh, young eyes,

Never wavering despite my size.

Though to a child I am compared,

I was tough-willed and knowledgeable, I was able to fare.

I am 10, growing up and searching the truth,

In my faith and friendships, I was quite the sleuth.

Starting out middle school a little bit scared,

But after it's over, I know I have fared.

I am 15, halfway through my high school career,

Swimming, volunteering, and studying filled my academic year.

Stressed, but living in the moments, I had declared,

But now high school is almost over, I know I have fared.

I am 17, preparing to again look at the world with bright, fresh, young eyes.

Never wavering except to say my goodbyes.

The journey awaits me now to go to college, and I am prepared.

In all my years, I know I have fared.
