I Am...Me
I am me
I am strong
I am a victim of abuse;
of rape and beatings;
of emotional turmoil;
of depression and anxiety;
But I am still me
I breathe in; I breathe out
Taking in the pain of yesterday
On this bleak, fall morning
I see the fog fill the skies
Only seeing five feet in front of me
Where do I go?
Better yet,
Where have I been?
I can't see behind me
On this cold autumn morning
as the leaves fall from the trees
like the pain of my past
I am strong
I keep moving forward
Not sure of where I am going
or of who I am
I keep driving
I keep breathing
I am a person
I fought to be where I am
and maybe I don't know where I am going
but because I beat the struggles
of the fogginess of my past
I trust I am going somewhere lovely
I am going somewhere beautiful
I am beginning the rest
of this beautiful life
I am me.
I am strong.
I am a person.
