I AM...Myself
I remember when we met.
We were alike in everyway.
We’d talk, we’d laugh
We’d hang out everyday
You were my other half,
My devious partner in crime.
We couldn’t be stopped;
We thought we’d stand the test of time
But then time went on
This I thought you knew
And we drifted apart
like most friendships do.
I became more decisive and defined.
While you tried to run and hide
Away to the past ‘cause
You believed it’d stand the test of time.
Two years have past now
And look how I’ve changed.
I stand taller, more proud,
And do so everyday.
I listen to others,
I think before I speak.
I now realize that this is
How you stand the test of time.
But you, you’re sad.
You live in the past.
Your refuse to change and
Regret the decisions you never had
We were friends but now
You’re just a memory on a shelf
Its hard to believe
That you were once myself.
