I am...Scholarship Slam

I AM....

Lately, I ask myself

Who am I?

And I find myself contemplating...

I AM ME!

And then I think What am I?

I AM HUMAN,

I am a strong being.

A fighter, a fallen soul but most importantly

HAPPY!

Happy, that I have been given this obstacle filled life.

Death follows me as I walk my path to success.

What AM I?

I AM A FALLEN SOUL.

I have fallen to the depths of my own See's,

Drowned myself in sorrows.

And yet, I still manage to swim my way to the surface.

And I choose to go against the current.

A gasp of air is all I need!

To continue on my path to succeed.

What can I be?

I can be as delicate as a beautiful Jasmin flower,

A flower I can be!

BUT....my flower did not grow in a garden,

Not taken care of by the delicate hand of Mother Nature.

But where then did I grow?

In an abandoned lot...

I stand alone.

Will I be forgotten?

Will I stay alive and beautiful?

I will be... A sorrowful beautiful flower,

That will maintan my liveliness with my tears,

To see the sunshine.

I will forgive.

I will survive.

With every fight.

With ALL my might!

My obstacles may try to anchor me down

But because of what I AM and who I AM

I will swim and fight my way to the surface of life.

And I will be....

ME.
