I AM......YBM

I walk down the block like a drum with a beat

I listen to the whispers, the stares from the street.

I talk with authority mixed with hip hop, but clear

I observe the judgement mixed with hesitance and fear.

My life is important to those who are important

My thoughts make a difference in my world of support.

My feelings are hurt when you disregard my presence

But my love stems from my grandmother's grandmothers' prayers.

While walking through life I'm clear but confused, does anyone care is life really this cruel?

I listen to my own thoughts careful not to offend

I don't talk about my feelings because no one will listen.

I observe the world's lack of love for my team

I am a Young Black Male and I've always mattered to me.
