I Ask For So Little

"I ask for so little". The man who wants everything he sees and nothing that he has, Who holds strives to pull everyone down to his level. Air in his lung, water in his cup, meals on his table and a mother for his children. Nonetheless he repeats, "I ask for so little". When one thing doesn't go his way, When he reaches for another and breaks his vows time and time again When he forces things to go his way and for everyone else to bare the weight of his miserable decisions. Still he complains, "I ask for so little". He drains the emotions from the bodies of the shoulders he stands on, A sick smile on his face when he finally sees the tears in their eyes. The eyes of the children who once looked up at him now void of emotion flooded instead with hurricanes of anger and pain. The word still spill from his lips, "I ask for so little". Blood covers his hands that are gripping the hearts of those he has destroyed, "It was so simple, so small, fragile and easy. I've finally broken the ones who couldn't give what I asked for. I asked for so little, I merely wanted what they had. The smiles, The hopeful eyes, The love, The happiness, The innocence. I only wanted the world."
