I awoke

Some days
I awoke to fresh air
And birds chirping
Sunshine and green trees

Soft music
And warm baths
Soft hair
And bright eyes

These days were filled with
Newness
And peace
And they made me forget all the others

I was able to smile
And I was able to tell myself
That no matter what happened
I was always going to be okay
