This I Believe

I believe in rainy days. I believe in the change it brings to our everyday lives. A different perspective and atmosphere to experience. The way rain can change our plans or with my experience, the harder the rain, the curlier and bigger the hair. Our appearance changes; rain boots, jackets, umbrellas. It's a change of scenery. Rain slows down time, putting us in perspective. Take a break from the busy routine we face everyday. It changes our plans and slows down time for just a little while to allow us to recuperate. I believe in rainy days.

I believe in the gift of new life that rain brings. With each drop a new plant is born, making our world a more beautiful and brighter place to live in. As the sky dims and the gray clouds pour down the drink of new birth. As each dry plant takes a sip they grow taller and stronger. The rain fills our lakes, oceans, and rivers, giving a home to aquatic life. Rain allows us to see the beauty in the saddest of times, the harshest of days. We can allow ourselves to see the light at the end of the tunnel because after rain there is always sunshine and sometimes even a rainbow. It reminds us everything will be okay. I believe in rainy days

I believe in rainy days because of the isolation it brings. The rain blurs out all of my distractions, allowing my mind and body to slow down. I can focus better with the background noise nature brings.  Everything seems more simple. The sound of each drop soothes with a sweet lullaby, rocking me to sleep, indefinitely. The clean and refreshing smell is like no other. It is like the earth being cleansed to the point of feeling completely new. I believe in rainy days.

The consistent, yet random rhythmic pitter patter on my rooftop or against my window is easily the most comforting and peaceful sound in the world. Most people find rain unenjoyable or annoying while I continue to see it as a gift. Give rainy days a chance. With that, I have been taught how to appreciate things that most people fear or dislike. Appreciate the little things in life because it may not last forever. I believe in rainy days.

I like to think of people as raindrops. Sometimes they leave an imprint on your life and stick around for a while. Others fall flat onto the ground and say goodbye forever. Some dance through life while others move step by step with caution. Raindrops are like people. Some stick to your windshield and hold on for dear life, while others are sucked into nothingness. Some dance down the windshield abruptly, to escape from the windshield wipers before it is too late.  People go through life the same way. Enjoy the rain and the lessons it teaches. Believe in the gift that nature brings. Believe in rainy days.
