I Believe in Arenas

I slowly slipped into what felt like a black hole that I couldn’t escape.

When other physical activity wasn’t helping my mood,

I escaped to the one place I knew best, an arena, I climbed into the saddle and even though some days were worse than others I continued to ride and eventually, hand in hand, horse and arena saved me.

This I truly believe.

 I have learned to love myself and believe in myself in an arena.

I have met some of the best people I know standing in the clouds of dust.

I have also made some of the best memories standing in the pouring rain around an arena.

I will continue to put my jeans and boots on;

spend my days and nights hanging around an arena.

I whole heartedly believe in arenas.
