i can feel you in the dark when I fall asleep

this is so fucking weird
this pain is so fucking weird
I hate the gasping and choking
I hate the gagging on my own tears
I hate the bittersweet music that's mostly bitter
and I hate the happiness that's mostly sad
it looks like your face doesn't do shit for me anymore
I didn't know this, but your smile apparently isn't stronger than this fucking monster
so I lay in bed and I imagine his laugh, only for some reason these tears are my response
"I know," I want to say
I know I know I know
I am also hanging on for dear life
I, too, know I cannot rewind
and I wonder who can see inside
but these words fall on ears that are more distant than deaf
and instead my skin cries for me
