I Can Hear Screaming

I can hear screaming,

no theory of where its coming from,

or where the sound is streaming.

What is this meaning?

Why is there a dismal sound

constantly teasing?

I can hear screaming,

I recall hearing it before…

maybe from me dreaming?

I can hear screaming.

Yes, now I know what it is,

it isn’t anyones breathing,

or anyone grieving.

What it is,

is my own mind deceiving

the natural sound of voices,

into something more displeasing.

There is something speaking,

where words shouldn’t be spoken.

It knows my thoughts that keep reeling.

I can’t escape.
