I Can Hear the Trees Breathe

I can hear the trees breathe Whisper, sigh, and sing. It’s the one thing that I’ll miss here, At least it has the trees. Trees, trees everywhere, But no two places quite the same, Or at least not the trees, Though people seem as sane. Each has its unique breathing, Different sounds in different places. It’s more than just geography, Earth’s rough and tumbled skin. The background noise is what it is The heart, the mind, the soul, Not location literally, But where you are yourself in total. And so the breathing’s different, From place to place to place But what is truly important Is just that each does breathe.

This is just a little poem about my adoration of the sound of the trees in my home town for the poetry slam. Keep our trees safe.
