I Can Only Stand So Much

Dear Kayla,

 I know that I have let you down more than once and I am so sorry. I never meant to let all those people hurt you, I didn't know that it would lead back to you getting broken over and over again. You put yourself out there for people, and I tried to warn you, but you didn't listen. I never wanted you to find out the way you did. I know that it could have gone differently, but you let me fall. You didn't even catch me when I fell, you just let it happen. All the warning signs, all the flashing lights. I wonder if you knew what you were getting into. All the times I fought you to be happy, all the times I pushed you away. None of it worked, just look at where we are now. I know you miss them, all the people we lost, but if I'm fighting it, so can you. We work as a team, and if you don't work with me, it won't work. I wish I could go back and warn you a little better. I am trying my best to help you heal, and to fix you, but you just won't let me. Do you enjoy being hurt? Maybe, I should just leave you broken. Would that make you understand? If not, I don't know what will. You've been there through everything. You felt all the pain. You knew everything. I tried my best to protect you , but you wouldn't let me, you just kept pushing. I'm sorry I couldn't help you, and that I couldn't give you the protection. I'll keep trying my best, but you have to help.
