I Can Poem
When I was a little girl,
I thought that I could have anything I wanted.
Not that I was a spoiled brat
But, then I began to realize as I
got older that I would have to do things on
my own to get what I wanted.
That was not fair, and so is life.
When I was about seven years old,
I stole a purple nail polish at a store,
since I did not have the money to pay for it.
Of course, I got in trouble
but I promised that I won't ever do that again.
As time went on, relying on my parents
became an issue.
All I needed was support and independence.
I thought that things would get easier by the time I got to college.
I had the privilege
of buying materials I needed
from the funds I received from the school.
My parents are still around to help me
but throughout all my life.
I know that I can become a star of my own.
I can present myself with class.
I can fill someone else's life with happiness.
I can finally be myself indeed
and that's a part of being me.
I have the will to get what I want
I will get what I need
Not everything you get in life will be free
I can have anything that I was gifted for.
