I CANNOT BEAR THIS DARKNESS (SONNET)

Her mom ignores  her day and night sadly.

She says she’s not good enough for  her time.

The girl cries every day very badly.

She wants to run away but has a dime.

Her mom comes home late at night and ignores

Everything that is around her ‘til the morning.

The young girl feels worthless and not adored.

But when  she talks she’s hit with no warning.

Her tears streaming down like raindrops falling.

No one hears her scream but, witness her scars.

She hates it when her mom starts name calling –

But, her mom is stubborn drinking cigars.

Talk to her softly and practice demand.

She might be nice and try to understand.
