I Can't Breathe

I feel the pressure in my throat as my lungs began to close.

I feel my heart racing twice the average speed when in reality it slows.

Everyone stares as I try to leave and finally I get out the words “I Can’t Breathe.”

I don’t know where I’m going but the room is closing in. I can’t let this stop me. I can’t give in.

The control over my body I can’t achieve. Someone find the nurse I can’t breathe.

I eventually calm down and it’s all over. The nurse says it’s in my head. Maybe I just need a clover.

I’ve had a few episodes and she think It’s made up. Like she said before maybe I was down on my luck.

I feel the pressure in my throat as my lungs began to close.

I feel my heart racing twice the average speed when in reality it slows.

I tap the person next to me and gasp “I can’t breathe”

Wait I know this feeling. I am prepared for this. Inhale .Exhale.

That was a close call but with this inhaler a huge episode I’m going to miss.

The doctor gave me this inhaler with a great speech to follow.

Even a couple steroids that aren’t that hard to swallow.

I’m sure I didn’t make this up and because I believe in God it can’t be luck.

I wonder what ‘s happening and when it’s going to end.

I wonder if there is anyway possible that I can win.

Every time I go see Dr. Martin he tells me the same thing.

Sometimes I think Martin dreamed the wrong dream.

When I have these asthma attacks somebody is choking the life out of me it seems.

I’m so tired of people trying to down play what reality just beams.  But you know Dr. Martin telling me that this is something I can thrive.

I asked him one day how can I thrive when I can barely survive.

The school nurse can’t see that I feel like I’m dying.

I try to hold my hands up but she just says that I’m lying.

So I’m back in your doctor’s office asking you how am I going survive. When she clearly doesn’t want me to even be alive. Man I’m telling you it’s so hard to breathe.
