I can't live without art

It matters to my heart

than it consumes my brain.

That fire art can spark,

is the kind I need to

cook my meals when I'm starved.

Starved for love,

I need art.

Starved for freedom,

Art unchained me from the demons

that lurked.

Years of hate,

I need art.

Years of safety,

art was there to hold my hands

through the abyss of

confusion, loss, and anger.

It vanished.

Gone from my knowledge

that I was even broken

Art saved me!
