(i can't remember if i told you)

(i can’t remember if i told you) it’s

white out

what did i feel yesterday?

today i feel numb

smudges left from elementary school

supplies eraser.

i remember the color

of my cats eyes

tristan’s smile

(i can’t remember if i told you) it’s

white out on top of erased print

not what’s due when

or the words to a favorite poem

i write down “remember”

remember

remember? ink on hand

to easy to forget to check the planner.

(i can’t remember if i told you) it’s

white out on top of erased print

on white paint

remembering wasn’t ever

a talent before

remembering was constant

reflexive

how did it feel

to certainly know

what line came next

i think it’s a new game

roulette

(i can’t remember if i told you) it’s

white out on top of erased print

on white paint on top

of white canvas.

was there something underneath?
